Simballay Festival as it Best

The Nabunturan Compostela Valley celebrates its bountiful and colorful 23rd Simballay Festival with the theme of "Pagpasalamat, Paglipay, Pag-inambitay...Simballay!".” This year 2017 Simballay festival presents the very lively and wondrous motif which really defines the word "festival”, each booth presents a very exceptional and artistic structures and designs which really amaze the visitors and especially the "Nabunturanon".

Ever since the "ber" months started the spirit of Christmas is already in the air, everyone is busy preparing decorations, installing and vying their different ideas in making Christmas tree and Belen. The preparations for Simballay festival has started too, the array of the whole festival's activities has been set including the program for the 5 days celebration. Different competition has been held; singing competition (garbo), Christmas chorale, dance competition (iwag sa kadalanan), and etc.  Many people not just from the Nabunturan but from the other municipalities came and witness the celebration; each of them was taking a picture in every booth and enjoys the different set of activities and competition day and night.

Since day one, I and my classmates are very excited to see the whole venue and to witness the wonderful creation of every barangay with their products and outputs. I was amazed with the presentation and how the way did they came up into its very exceptional ideas of being artistic and came up with a beautiful output. The thing that really caught me off-guard is the creation of barangay "Panggutosan" the one with a replica of a coconut on top, and the barangay of "Mipangi" who's using the body of a tree to serve as the house of their products. Nevertheless every barangay did well on their presentation, a proof that the people of Nabunturan are very talented and amazing in its own way.

All in all I really did enjoy the Simballay festival this year 2017 especially that I am enjoying it with my classmates and friends. It is a good way to end the year 2017 and to finally start with the year 2018 with a positive mind, prosperous and generous heart. Advance Merry Christmas and Happy  New Year, may God bless us always and keep us safe every day.
